It’s been sixty years since United Way Hastings & Prince Edward first made an impact on this region and the movement continues this fall, with the launch of the annual United Way HPE fundraising campaign.
The United Way invites its donors, volunteers, friends, partners and supporters to attend its 60th anniversary campaign launch at 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 13 at the Quinte Mall Kindness Court. Guests will learn more about how money raised benefits United Way HPE’s 36 partner agencies and more than 70 programs offered across the region.
Donations gathered, whether they’re through workplace campaigns, special events, leadership giving, legacy giving or individual donations, make a monumental difference in the community. Last year, United Way-funded programs improved the lives of more than 42,000 people in the region; or about 1 in every 3 people.
Other reasons to get excited about this year’s campaign include that:
- United Way Hastings & Prince Edward is a 100% Local organization. Every dollar raised in Hastings & Prince Edward stays local and supports agencies and individuals from our community.
- United Way donations support agencies that fall within at least one of three pillars; All That Kids Can Be, From Poverty to Possibility and Strong Communities, in order to ensure all people have access to meaningful opportunities.
- In 2018, the United Way is celebrating its 60th year of #Improving Lives Locally, by encouraging the sharing of stories that demonstrate a legacy of giving in this area.
Also, the theme for this year’s campaign is Local Love, as the United Way is asking supporters and workplaces to demonstrate how much they love their communities. As of early August, dozens of workplaces had already committed to campaigns by rallying employees to hold events and raise funds that will transform lives locally. However, more are encouraged to step forward. The United Way needs Leaders and Caring Organizations who can show local love by giving back to our community.
