A large percentage of Canadian adults do not have a Will. This leaves families vulnerable and often emotionally and financially unprepared to deal with the hardship of settling an estate. In the spirit of building strong and healthy communities, we are asking you to support United Way Hastings & Prince Edward Will Week. During the week of Oct. 15-19, 2018, participating solicitors will waive their fee for writing a basic Will. Instead, clients will be asked to make a $150 donation to United Way in exchange for the service. This initiative is a unique way to help further strengthen our community by helping more families be prepared in the case of an unexpected tragic event.
Will Week officially kicks off on Thursday, Oct. 11 with a Will Week Symposium:
Time: 6 – 8 p.m.
Location: Quinte Sports & Wellness Centre, 265 Cannifton Rd., Belleville
Cost: Free! But seating is limited
Guest Speakers: Kristian Himberg-Larsen, tax specialist from Wilkinson & Co; Galen Nuttal, financial adviser from Freedom 55; and Liam Rafferty, associate lawyer from Templeman LLP. Speakers will discuss the importance of having a will prepared and the importance of communication with family and loved ones about your wishes with regards to financees and property.
