The Final Countdown: 9 Days Left to Close the Gap on United Way HPE’s $2.25M Goal
January 22, 2025With just nine days remaining to reach its $2.25 million campaign goal, United Way Hastings & Prince Edward is calling on the community to help close the remaining gap of approximately $70,000. Earlier this month, a $100,000 funding shortfall was announced, and thanks to the overwhelming generosity of local donors, 30% of that gap has already been closed.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received so far,” said Taylor Russett, 2024 United Way HPE Campaign Chair. “This shows the strength and compassion of our community. While we’ve made great progress, we still need one last push to ensure we can raise as much as possible and continue to support the critical programs that so many people rely on.”
The campaign funds 46 local agencies and 55 programs tackling homelessness, addiction, and food insecurity. Donations to United Way HPE support programs like Kairos, which provides substance use services to children and youth in Bancroft.
“It costs $2 a day to ensure one child or youth has access to an addiction counsellor,” said Shawn Quigley, Youth Diversion Executive Director. “Every donation makes a difference.”
The campaign’s final achievement will be announced in February, with updates on the impact these funds will have on the community.
“This campaign is about more than hitting a number—it’s about what we are able to do with the funds raised and helping our neighbours when they need it most,” said Brandi Hodge, Executive Director of United Way Hastings & Prince Edward.
