Period Promise
Periods are a fact of life, but if you’re living in poverty, or vulnerable in other ways, access to necessary menstrual products can be challenging. Unfortunately, period poverty is found right here in our own community. We know that when people have access to the products that they need, it improves their health and well-being, and makes it easier for them to maintain and build vital connections.
When you make a donation to United Way HPE’s Period Promise you are helping to ensure people in our community have access to hygiene products when they need it most.
Did you know – hygiene products are the most highly requested yet least donated items!
The Period Promise campaign is working to help eradicate period poverty. Many people in our community do not have the financial means to purchase safe period products and are faced with having to choose between basic necessities. United Way is making period products accessible to all, to help ensure people do not have to face the pressures that come with the lack of safe hygiene products.
Throughout the Period Promise campaign physical and financial donations are collected and distributed to community partners, foodbanks and local programs across the Hastings & Prince Edward region. From May 15th-30th, donations can be made online in support of the campaign and hygiene products can be dropped-off in-person at the United Way HPE office – 55 Harriett Street, Belleville – Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm. 613-962-9531
