Stewarding a Values-Driven Practice with AI in the Community Sector
10:15AM – 11:45AM
Prince Edward Room
AI has landed squarely and thoroughly in the community sector, and is actively disrupting the landscape of community knowledge, co-design and values-driven change efforts. When we explore AI as a component of our change ecosystems, our attempts to add these new tools to our practice can create tensions with our core values. Too often, we feel isolated and powerless to change that dynamic.
With this in mind, we can work to imagine, design, and implement AI strategy intentionally for the types of impact we desire. With the pace of this tech accelerating, it’s important that we start to build a practice that enables an ongoing, agential interaction with it. This workshop will introduce a stewardship practice which can help to centre our needs, values and commitments when introducing these emerging AI tools.
There has never been a more vital time for community-centric, values-aligned changemakers to be involved in the creation and application of AI technology, so we can amplify and animate our change efforts with purpose, focus and with our values at the centre.
