We Are Systems Change!

3:35PM – 4:35PM

Northumberland Room

When we talk of systems change, all too often we think of social and political systems that are opaque, complex, hard to understand and detached spaces that we need to strategically locate, advocate within and politically engage with. But what if those spaces are right in front of us. Indeed, what if we are already perfectly positioned within the very dynamic systems we seek to change.

This talk will aim to illuminate how we are almost certainly already doing the heavy lifting of systems change. Being engaged in community work often places us in ‘the messy middle’ of social systems. And it’s here where we can best reshape and leverage knowledge co-creation, co-learning and unlearning practices. Here, we can establish new norms, and we can usher in more compassionate, caring and kind social systems by seeing things just a little differently.
