United Way HPE closing the gap with 18 days to go!

January 13, 2020

United Way Hastings & Prince Edward is within $50,000 of the campaign goal and has 18 days to make it up before the Jan 31 deadline.

“Our team is taking a no holds barred approach for these last few weeks.” Brandi Hodge, Executive Director states. “Whatever it takes is our motto right now – so today we’re launching an 18 day countdown—we know we need approx. $2,500 per day for the next 18 days in order to reach that $1,950,000 goal.  We’ll be very active in the community so follow along on Facebook and Instagram—we’re asking everyone in the community to help us get there—every single dollar counts!”

This past year the organization funded 44 agencies and 65 programs right here within our community, and this year, the need is higher— Don Williams, the United Way Volunteer Campaign Chair explained “Ultimately, for every dollar we are short, there are programs that are impacted – we can do great work with what the community has raised so far, but we can do even better work with a bit more.“

Sandie Sidsworth,  Executive Director of the United Way funded agency Canadian Mental Health Association explains “The funding we receive from United Way HPE maintains our transitional housing program creating a true partnership of hope and resiliency for the most vulnerable in our community; it literally puts a roof over the heads of those who are homeless.”

Donors can support the 2019 United Way HPE fundraising campaign by contacting their office at 613.962.9531 or online at unitedwayhpe.ca/donate/ or by mailing their donation before Jan 31st,  to United Way Hastings & Prince Edward, PO Box 815, Belleville, ON K8N 5B5. Hodge adds, “Every dollar counts – we’ll get there by a lot of people giving what they can;  we have less than 2.5% to go!”
