Government of Canada Emergency Community Support Fund
We are proud to have partnered with United Way Centraide Canada and the Government of Canada to deliver the Government of Canada’s Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF) in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties to improve the ability of community organizations to serve vulnerable Canadians during the COVID-19 crisis.
Between May 19th and June 15th 2020, United Way Hastings & Prince Edward received over 41 program applications for community programs and services that support vulnerable community members. To date, 26 programs have been approved for a total of $497,316.68, funded by the Government of Canada. We are pleased to announce the ECSF is supporting the following:
- Bancroft Community Transit to their Grocery shopping and delivery program
- Belleville Community Trust Fund to their Belleville Community Trust Fund program
- Bridge Street United Church to their Daily Lunch program
- Community Advocacy & Legal Centre to their CALC Program Needs Due to COVID-19
- Community Care for Central Hastings to their Care in the Home program

Between October 5th and October 30th 2020, United Way Hastings & Prince Edward received over 29 program applications for community programs and services that support vulnerable community members. 18 programs have been approved for a total of $171,746, funded by the Government of Canada. New Horizons for Seniors Fund
In April 2020, United Way Hastings & Prince Edward, in partnership with the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program increased the capacity of organizations providing services to seniors across the community.
The funding supported programs that focused on seniors (55+) impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to respond to immediate, urgent local needs by supporting basic needs such as food, cleaning, and hygiene products including delivery; reduced social isolation, and/or support for community service organizations to maintain or enhance services such as volunteer and staff retention. We are pleased to announce the funding is supported the following:
