Experienced Chair returns to lead 2021 United Way Campaign

August 30, 2021

United Way HPE announced  that Inspector Sheri Meeks of the Belleville Police Service will lead the charge for the 2021 United Way HPE Fundraising Campaign for the second consecutive year.  The organization will kick the fall campaign off on September 15th when they are expected to announce the fundraising goal.

“It’s not often that we turn to our previous campaign chair and ask them to remain on board—typically the past chair will pass the torch to someone new” explained Brandi Hodge, Executive Director United Way HPE,  “however this year feels different. It feels like a year where consistency and experience will be important elements to ensure success—and Sheri embodies both of those.”

Meeks successfully chaired the 2020 campaign helping United Way HPE to raise over $1,950,000; when paired with the additional $160,000 raised through the COVID-19 Community Response Fund donors supported more than 51 agencies, and through them, 93 programs in Hastings & Prince Edward Counties.

“United Way HPE is 100% locally focused the funds that are raised here, stay here” says Meeks. “All of us can see the devastation of the pandemic—we all know someone who is struggling to support the needs of their family.  We must make sure that the social infrastructure that will serve our community is strong; our ability to thrive depends on it. United Way HPE is our best opportunity to do that and I’m willing to do my part to make sure it succeeds.“
