Beyond Burnout: How Leaders Can Support the People Who Support Everyone Else
10:15AM – 11:45AM
Compassion fatigue doesn’t happen because people care too much—it happens because caring professionals often operate within systems that ask them to give endlessly without adequate support.
Designed for nonprofit leaders, managers, and supervisors, this interactive workshop explores how emotionally intelligent leadership practices can strengthen team well-being, improve retention, and foster healthier workplace cultures.
Through facilitated discussion, reflection activities, and practical leadership tools, participants will learn how to create environments where people can do meaningful work without sacrificing their mental health in the process.
Participants will learn how to:
- Identify early indicators of stress, burnout, and compassion fatigue within their teams.
- Foster psychological safety through kind, clear, and direct communication.
- Set healthy boundaries while maintaining high levels of care and accountability.
- Use practical leadership strategies to support resilience and sustainable performance.
- Model behaviours that encourage trust, connection, and well-being across their organizations.
Participants will walk away with a renewed understanding of their role in shaping healthy workplace cultures—and concrete actions they can implement immediately to better support the people doing some of our communities’ most important work.
