McDougall Insurance & Financial steps up for Covid-19 Relief Fund
May 4, 2020Tuesday is #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. United Way Hastings & Prince Edward is participating, and McDougall Insurance & Financial has committed $10,000 as a matching program to encourage those who can contribute to United Way HPE’s Covid-19 Community Response fund, to do so.
“The Covid-19 Community Response Fund is providing resources to local organizations that are supporting people right here in our own community” said Melanie Cressman, Director, Donor Relations. “Now, more than ever, we are being called upon to help our neighbours manage this crisis as well as possible. We were so excited by McDougall Insurance & Financial’s generous offer. ”
“ We know that it’s a hard time for many right now and we really want to do our part in the community. Therefore McDougall Insurance will match donations to United Way Hastings & Prince Edward’s Community Response Fund up to $10,000. “ said Ross McDougall CEO, McDougall Insurance & Financial.
Funds raised are:
- Supporting the provision of basic needs such as food and supplies to community members, primarily through the provision of funding and product to agencies who already have the infrastructure in place for distribution such as, but not limited to, food banks
- Supporting the provision of basic needs through volunteerism to assist agencies and organizations providing services to community members
- Supplementing operational funding gaps for health and human service agencies so they can continue to provide the supports that are vital to the resilience of community members through these times
- Supporting longer term needs such as providing additional funding to emergency financial assistance programs to assist with the prevention of utility disconnections and evictions; as self-isolation and provincial mandates demand the closures of business we are going to see a tremendous number of individuals and families in financial crisis
- Ensuring the community has access to information about how and where to find help
