United Way Hastings & Prince Edward Will Week Returns
October 15, 2021
Will Week returns in 2021 with an opportunity to learn about the importance of wills and estate planning from an expert on generational wealth transfer.
On Wednesday October 20th from 5-7pm, NY Times top-ten author, Tom Deans, Ph.D., will share his expertise as keynote speaker of the Wills & Estate Planning Presentation. Deans’ book ‘Willing Wisdom’ remains to be the best-selling Canadian estate-planning book of all-time. As an award-winning speaker, Deans has delivered more than 1,000 keynote speeches in 26 countries and will address the importance of estate planning in-light of our current global crisis.
This year’s event was once again made possible thanks to the generosity of presenting partner Wilkinson & Company LLP “Wilkinson has been a partner of the Will Week initiative since the beginning and our team was proud to partner with United Way on this initiative again this year” says Mark Ford, Chief Operating Officer, Wilkinson & Company LLP. “We look forward to hearing Kris & Tom share their expertise on a topic that is most definitely top-of-mind for many people right now.”
The first 40 people to register will receive a free copy of Tom Deans book ‘Willing Wisdom’ thanks to a contribution from Steele Funeral Home “as a local community-minded company we felt it was important to give back to our community to help as many people as possible gain the tools to learn more about the importance of planning and preparing their will” says Richard Steele, Funeral Director, Steele Funeral Home.
Those in attendance will learn:
- The basics of estate planning
- Connection between estate planning & long-term care
- Tax implications from an accountant’s perspective
- Confidence to begin important family conversations
